As some of you may have noticed I sponsored YogaFest this year as a new locally operated business here in Miramichi! It was a beautifully sunny day with a perfect breeze for stretching, moving and meditating. I want to thank YogaFest for all of their hard work in organizing this event, I cannot wait for next year!
Along with sponsors, there were plenty of vendor’s with amazing product to sell as well and I was lucky to snag some pretty cool stuff while there.
My first purchase was my deep purple B Mat from The Yoga Block. I will admit to being an on again off again yogi, I did some classes while in university but I didn’t have much time after that. Once I moved to Northern Manitoba I re-started my practice at least once weekly with the wonderful Linda Towes. With the big move back in May, starting my business and settling back into a routine, fitness, and yoga have been put on the backburner… until now! I have made the commitment to take one hour daily for my own self-care, through yoga and getting back into my workouts.
Throughout my on again off again relationship with yoga I have only ever purchased cheap $20 yoga mats. These mats are thin, slippery and often start to pill and fall apart after minimal uses. In my commitment to self-care, I decided to purchase the B Mat as a little motivation to get to a Yoga class at least once weekly. I purchased the everyday B Mat which offers superior grip, cushioning and lightweight construction of 100% natural and synthetic rubber. It’s 4mm thick and 71” long and weighs only 4.1lb.
After a sweaty, hot yoga flow class on Monday, I can honestly say, this mat is everything it says to be and then some! My hands in normal temperature have a tendency to slip and slide requiring me to adjust mid downward dog, not with the BMat though, even during hot yoga!
Along with my commitment to self-care, I have also made a commitment to supporting local business. By purchasing the B Mat from The Yoga Block I was supporting an amazing local business, but also found out I was supporting an amazing Canadian Company. B yoga is proudly born, raised and operated Canadian Company with their head office located in Ontario. Currently, their mats are manufactured in Spain however, in early 2018 manufacturing will be moving to Canada as well, Canadian owned and Canadian made!
Check out B Yoga for more information on their products! The everyday B Mat retails for $78.00 plus tax and shipping which was going to come to $103.50 online. Check out The Yoga Block for their prices.
My second purchase was my Future Muscle Apparel Vortex Hoodie in red retailing for $55.00. This too is a locally owned and operated fitness apparel business here in Miramichi. The lightweight hoodie is perfect for a cool evening run but stylish enough to wear out and about throughout the day. They have a range of products including women’s hoodies, long crops and tanks and men’s hoodies, tanks and t’s. Rumor has it they may be including a line of leggings as well in the near future
And yes, that is me, enjoying a delicious poutine as your down to earth dietitian! (also supporting a local business)
